We Restructure or Nigeria will Perish

As call for the 'Restructuring' of Nigeria continues to garner momentum in the polity ever since the embattled IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, started the cause, an influential politician, has concurred while saying that it's the only solution for the country.  While speaking in an exclusive interview with The Sun, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chyna Iwuanyanwu, accused the federal government of dealing in absolute secrecy and putting the nation in a ‘Spiritual cross road’. He also spoke on other national issues.   When asked of his opinion on the continued call for  'Restructuring'  in Nigeria, he said; "There is a discussion about secession, restructuring or no restructuring. The fact that Nigeria is divided between north and south is clear. It is the north who has been beneficiaries of the injustice, imbalance, the iniquity, in the system, they are the ones that want to maintain the statusquo. But I tell them that nobody has moved f...

Produce Nnamdi Kanu dead or alive

ABUJA – A team of lawyers representing the embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, ‎IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce their client in court dead or alive. Kanu’s lawyers, led by Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, told the court that they have not seen or heard from their client since September 14 when the “Nigerian Army invaded the Applicant’s house on a murderous raid, where life and mortar bullets were fired on unarmed and defenseless populace, leaving 28 persons dead and abducting many”. Pursuant to section 40 of the Federal High Court Act, F12, LFN 2005 and section 6(6) (1) (4) of the 1999 constitution, as amended, Kanu’s lawyers applied for “an order of Habeas Corpus ad subjiciendum, commanding the Respondent, to produce the Applicant in Court”. The lawyers, in the suit that has Kanu as the Applicant and Buratai as Respondent, told the court that their request was predicat...

Nnamdi Kanu: Mischief makers intend to tarnish my image – Atiku

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has alleged mischief makers intend to tarnish his image by attributing a statement in which the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was praised for placing the issue of restructuring on the front burner of national discourse. Atiku described the report on the website of a reputable newspaper as “classical fake news.” In a statement sent to DAILY POST by Paul Ibe, his Media Adviser, the former Vice President, urged Nigerians and the reading public to discountenance the article and to be vigilant as more of such diabolical stuff are underway. The statement reads: “It has come to the notice of the Atiku Media Office that there is an opinion article titled “IPOB: Loathe or love Kanu, he has fought better – Atiku” purportedly written and signed by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, Vice President of Nigeria, 1999-2007 and chieftain of All Progressives Congress in circulation. “What started as the handiwork of mis...

Court to compel Army chief to produce Nnamdi kanu

Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja for an order of  Habeas Corpus ad subjiciendum , commanding Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai to produce him in court. The request is contained in a suit filed in his name yesterday by some lawyers, led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor. Part of the grounds for the request include that Kanu has not been seen since some soldiers allegedly invaded his house on September 14. The plaintiff stated that Kanu, who was in the house when the soldiers came, had not been heard from or seen since then. “The invading soldiers in their desperate bid to ensure that the applicant (Kanu) is caught in the attack, climbed stairs to his bedroom upstairs to shoot him; walls of his bedroom were riddled with bullets. “The invading soldiers, who had direct contact with the applicant on this fateful day (14th day of September 2017) should be in a position to produce the Applicant bef...

Nnamdi Kanu's alleged disappearance

Ifeanyi Ejik , lawyer to  Nnamdi Kanu,  leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has sued the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General  Tukur Buratai  over Nnamdi Kanu’s alleged disappearance since a reported September 14, 2017 raid by the Army on his residence. In an originating motion filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, Ejik wants the court to give an order mandating General Buratai to produce Kanu in court on his next adjournment date for the criminal trial he is facing in October. The motion has the IPOB leader as the only applicant and the Chief of Army Staff as the only respondent.   According to the application, the grounds for the relief include that the Kanu was, before he went missing, known to have lawfully exercised his constitutional right of freedom of association, peaceful assembly and self-determination.   The application also said Kanu was still enjoying the bail granted him by the court, when the prosecu...

Restructuring-Bola tinubu

The national leader of the ruling  All Progressives Congress  and former  Lagos state governor ,  Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu , has written an explosive and thought-provoking piece of "Restructuring".  In one way or another, we all have felt the sting of man’s capacity to wrong his fellow man. But we are also endowed with the God-given spirit to overcome adversity and to make of old enemies, new allies and even brothers. We must clearly articulate our objectives. That which we cannot think clearly, will not be attained despite the magnitude of our exertions and expenditure to achieve it. One cannot be assured that an architect’s fine design will result in a fine building. Much can go awry during the process of transforming idea into brick and mortar. However, we can be certain that a masterful building is never the result of flawed design. In this vein, I dabble not so much in the search for a new Nigeria. I am equally not enthused about the flaws o...

OPC urges dialogue with IPOB

OODUA People’s Congress (OPC) on Thursday condemned the militarisation of some part of the East under Operation Python Dance, in the obvious attempt to arrest the growing influence of the Nnamdi Kanu led Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), urging that dialogue rather than military option should be employed in resolving the issues at stake. OPC said this in Lagos, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Yinka Oguntimehin, copy of which was made available to the KALPETERZ , contending that the agitation of IPOB would be fruitfully addressed through dialogue rather than the military option being adopted by the Federal Government. OPC said it did not believe there was any security threat in Umuahia, the Abia State capital and its environs to warrant the deployment of soldiers to intimidate and molest innocent Nigerians who were going about their lawful business. The Yoruba group urged the Federal Government to be careful in handling the IPOB issue, adding th...

IPOB

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra  (IPOB) has denied being a militant terrorist organisation as declared by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Friday. The IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, who stated this in a statement issued to newsmen in Enugu accused security operatives of making frantic efforts to label their group a terrorist organisation. He alleged that security operatives, especially the “Nigerian Army and police personnel drafted to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s house has planted bombs in and around Nnamdi Kanu’s house in Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia Abia State” in a bid to paint the image of IPOB in bad light. He wondered why after the alleged attacks on Kanu’s house and nobody allowed to come near the compound, bombs are allegedly planted “in his compound in order to create impression or tag our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB members  terrorist group.” Powerful further alleged that “the Nigerian Army planted bombs in and around the co...
