Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to dialogue with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to curb the secessionist agitations instead of the deployment of soldiers to the South-East. Obasanjo said this during an interview with Newsweek Magazine. Ironically, Kanu, had in the past called Obasanjo an “evil man”. The former President said, “I don’t see anything wrong in that (Buhari meeting with Kanu). I would not object to that; if anything, I would encourage it. “I would want to meet Kanu myself and talk to people like him, people of his age, (and ask) ‘What are your worries?’ Not only from the South-East but from all parts of Nigeria.” Obasanjo, who led the final offensive that brought the civil war to an end in 1970, said he had seen too many wars and it was time for Nigeria to move on. Igbo community disown IPOB

the Igbo Community Association in Kano state has dissociated itself from the activities of Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The President-General of the association, Chief Ebenezer Chima, made the position of the association known at a joint news conference in Kano on Friday. “We want to state categorically here that we, the Igbos residing and doing business in Kano state, unequivocally state that we dissociate ourselves from the activities of IPOB and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. “We are strongly advocating for peace and unity in the land,” Chima said. Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) declared as a militant terrorist organisation

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has branded the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a militant terrorist organisation, and this was disclosed in a statement released in Abuja today. The Director, Defence Information (DDI), Gen. John Enenche, stated that IPOB posed a security challenge to the country. Nnamdi Kanu Blamed

The South East Renewal Group (SERG) has fingered Nnamdi Kanu in the state of unrest in the South-east region which has called for a military exercise. Following the recent face-off between members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and the Nigerian military in Abia State, the South East Renewal Group (SERG) has blamed Nnamdi Kanu as the root cause of the tension in the region.   The development has forced the state government to declare three days of curfew across the state. The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has released a statement over the clash between the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, and soldiers of the Nigerian Army. Extension of curfew in Aba to Friday September 15th

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu , has extended the three days curfew imposed on Aba to Friday, 15th September 2017. Yesterday, Governor Ikpeazu, announced the imposition of a curfew from Tuesday to Thursday, in Aba following the clash between IPOB members and some military officers that led to the death of at least seven members of the secession group.  In a statement released by his office today, the Governor wishes to advice residents and visitors to fully co-operate with security agents to ensure continuing maintenance of law and order within the commercial city and environs. The Nigerian Army has apologised to the Nigerian Union of Journalists after soldiers invaded their offices and brutalized their staff. How Biafra Agitators Plan To Collapse Administration Of Buhari

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has alleged that the raging Biafra agitation, led by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is aimed to bring about the collapse of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and split the country. The allegations were made in a statement issued on Wednesday. Signed by the coalition’s spokesperson, Mr. Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the statement said the turmoil generated by agitations since President Buhari assumed power in 2015 are aimed at making the country ungovernable and to ensure a change of government by “whatever means and tactics”.
